Finding a great scratchcard, with a huge jackpot and at a reasonable price is not as easy as you think.
With £10 scratchcards no longer in circulation in the UK, the most you can now pay for one, in a shop, is £5.
And that’s exactly how much the Jewel Multiplier scratchcard costs. But is it worth it?
How To Play ‘Jewel Multiplier’ Scratchcard?
If you’ve decided to buy a national lottery scratchcard as a little treat to yourself then of course you will want to know how to play it.
We all know that you need to scratch the panels in order to reveal the symbols and hopefully that wins you some cash.
However, these days scratchcards can be a little overwhelming as more and more bonus games get added.
We’re not complaining of course, as more games equals more chances of winning, but we also understand that some of them are not very straightforward.
The first thing you need to know about the Jewel Multiplier scratchcard is that there is one main play area on it.
Along with two bonus numbers, you have 25 chances of winning a cash prize.
Bonus Game 1: This is on the top left-hand side of the card is less of a bonus game and more of an additional way to win more money.
When you scratch the panel a bonus number is revealed. Find that on your card and you win twice the prize amount.
Bonus Game 2: Similar to bonus game one, if you find the extra bonus number on the scratchcard, you win five times the amount.
Game 1: This is the only game on the card and you play it like this…
You are given FIVE winning numbers plus TWO bonus numbers.
The idea is to find any of them when you scratch away the 25 ‘£’ symbols on the scratchcard.
Match one of your numbers to a ‘winning number’ and you win a cash prize.
If instead of a number you reveal a diamond then you instantly win £5. The more diamonds you reveal, the more you win.
The top prize on offer for the Jewel Multiplier scratchcard is £1 million.
Only four cards in circulation, from the initial run, have that prize.
The next biggest prize available is £50,000. This is a decent second prize as a lot of scratchcards only offer £10,000!
Then there’s a huge drop to just £5,000. So the biggest prizes on this card are £5K, £50K or £1 million.
And despite this, there are only FOUR of those available as well. So, in a crazy twist, you have the same odds of winning £1 million as you do of winning £5K.
Chances Of Winning?
According to the National lottery, on the Jewel Multiplier scratchcard, there is a 1 in 3.51 overall chance of winning a prize.
The lowest prize on offer is £5 but with over 13 different potential cash prizes, the amount you can win reaches a whopping £1 million.
Now before you get too excited, I should point out that from the 13,470,420 Jewel Multiplier scratchcards printed in the initial run, only FOUR contained the top prize.
So the reality is that you have a one in 3.3 million chance of scooping the top prize.
Of course, you have a much better shot at bagging a smaller amount of either £5 as there are over 1.65 million of them in circulation.
Like all scratchcards, the higher the potential prize, the less chance you have of winning it.
But don’t let that stop you because somebody does have to win the top jackpot prize and there’s no reason why that cannot be you!
How Many Prizes Left On Jewel Multiplier Scratchcard?
As we’ve already mentioned, the Jewel Multiplier scratchcard has four top prizes of £1,000,000.
At the time of writing this and according to the National Lottery, all four of those top prizes are still waiting to be won.
You can claim on a winning card even after they have gone out of circulation. Any money won must be claimed before the end of the 180th day after the closing date of the relevant game.
Bonus Game
As far as bonus games go, this scratchcard doesn’t have any.
It may offer a bonus multiplier but it’s not an additional way to win money.
It’s a shame because even though there really isn’t a lot more that can be done with a static, real-world card, they could have squeezed at least one extra game in!
So if it is bonus games that you are after, you might be better trying some online scratchcards which do have extra bonus games, increasing your chances of bagging a prize.
Quite often their jackpots are also bigger than those available on the high street.
The Terms & Conditions
Whether you’ve bought the card as a treat or perhaps a gift to pop in a friend’s birthday card, you should know that it is still a form of gambling as such there are game rules and regulations.
Procedures apply and they can be viewed at retailers and on the National Lottery website at national-lottery.co.uk.
Prizes between £1 and £100 can be claimed at a retailer or a local post office but check the National Lottery website if you are lucky enough to have won a much bigger prize as you may have to complete a Claim Form.
