Finding a great scratchcard, with a huge jackpot and at a reasonable price is not as easy as you think.
With £10 scratchcards no longer in circulation in the UK, the most you can now pay for one, in a shop, is £5.
And that’s exactly how much the Play Your Stars Right scratchcard costs. But is it worth it?
How To Play ‘Play Your Stars Right’ Scratchcard?
If you’ve decided to buy a national lottery scratchcard as a little treat to yourself then of course you will want to know how to play it.
We all know that you need to scratch the panels in order to reveal the symbols and hopefully that wins you some cash.
However, these days scratchcards can be a little overwhelming as more and more bonus games get added.
We’re not complaining of course, as more games equals more chances of winning, but we also understand that some of them are not very straightforward.
The first thing you need to know about the Play Your Stars Right scratchcard is that it is not a vertical card.
For this game, you need to turn the card on its side so it is facing you horizontally which is a quirky bonus!
Next, there are FIVE play areas on it.
They are Bonus Games 1 and 2 plus Games 1, 2, and 3. Between them, you have 15 chances to win a prize.
Bonus Game 1: This is on the bottom left-hand side of the card, under the spinning wheel. You need to find a ’10’ symbol to win a fixed amount of £10.
Bonus Game 2: This is next to Bonus Game 1 and also under the spinning wheel of fortune. This time if you find a ’20’ you automatically win the fixed prize of £20.
Game 1: This is the brightly coloured spinning wheel that takes up most of the scratchcard.
The wheel is divided into seven different wedges and each offers a chance to win a prize.
All you have to do is scratch a wedge, match three exact same symbols in that wedge to win the prize.
Game 2: Directly next to Game 1, on the upper right-hand side of the card is Game 2.
Here there are two rows and each has ‘Your number’ and ‘Their number’. If your number is greater than their number, you win.
Game 3: This can be found under Game 2 on the card. This is a ‘Winning Numbers’ game where you are given two different numbers.
Scratch off your four numbers and if any match either of the two winning numbers, you win.
The top prize on offer for the Play Your Stars Right scratchcard is £1 million. Only four cards in circulation, from the initial run, have that prize.
The next biggest prize available is £50,000. That’s a very healthy second prize as many of the other scratchcards only offer £10,000.
For those who are curious, there are only FIVE prizes of £50K available as well. So, in a crazy twist, you have almost the same odds of winning £1 million as you do of winning £50K.
Chances Of Winning?
According to the National lottery, on the Play Your Stars Right scratchcard, there is a 1 in 3.27 overall chance of winning a prize.
The lowest prize on offer is £5 but there are 12 different potential cash prizes, that can be won in dozens of different ways.
They are £5, £10, £15, £20, £30, £50, £100, £200, £1000, £5000, £50,000 and £1,000,000.
The maximum amount you can win is a whopping £1 million.
Now before you get too excited, I should point out that from the 11,923,380 Play Your Stars Right scratchcards printed in the initial run, only FOUR contain the top prize.
So the reality is that you have around a one in three million chance of scooping the top prize.
Of course, you have a much better shot at bagging a smaller amount of either £5 or £10 as between them, there are just under three million of them in circulation.
Like all scratchcards, the higher the potential prize, the less chance you have of winning it.
But don’t let that stop you because somebody does have to win the top jackpot prize and there’s no reason why that cannot be you!
How Many Prizes Left On Play Your Stars Right Scratchcard?
As we’ve already mentioned, the Play Your Stars Right scratchcard has four top prizes of £1,000,000.
At the time of writing this and according to the National Lottery, all four of those top prizes are still waiting to be won.
You can claim on a winning card even after they have gone out of circulation. Any money won must be claimed before the end of the 180th day after the closing date of the relevant game.
Bonus Game
As far as bonus games go, the two on this card are fairly standard. You simply scratch the panels and you’ve either won or you haven’t.
There really isn’t a lot more that can be done with an instant win static, real-world card.
So if it is bonus games that you are after, you might be better trying some online scratchcards which do have extra bonus games, increasing your chances of bagging a prize.
Quite often their jackpots are also bigger than those available on the high street.
The Terms & Conditions
Whether you’ve bought the card as a treat or perhaps a gift to pop in a friend’s birthday card, you should know that it is still a form of gambling as such there are game rules and regulations.
Procedures apply and they can be viewed at retailers and on the National Lottery website at national-lottery.co.uk.
Prizes between £1 and £100 can be claimed at a retailer or a local post office but check the National Lottery website if you are lucky enough to have won a much bigger prize as you may have to complete a Claim Form.
