US Man Wins $2,000,000 Scratch Card – Again!

After having already won $2 million on a scratch-off ticket before, a retired utility worker from Maryland in the United States hit the jackpot on a physical scratch card for the second time in just a few years.

When the 65-year-old worker bought two tickets for the $2,000,000 Richer game at a gas station, he was likely doubtful of a second jackpot win, but after he scratched off the two tickets in his car, he was left speechless.

After being fairly happy with a $100 prize from the first ticket, he scratched away at the second of which, of course, revealed a ‘Gold Bar’ symbol, indicating that he had scooped the $2 million jackpot.

The winner, who for obvious reasons has had his name kept a secret, had previously won a $2 million scratch card jackpot just a couple of years ago.

The individual had preserved the new winning ticket for a few months before cashing it in, according to the Maryland Lottery, which had debuted the $2,000,000 Richer game in 2019.

The man expressed concern that the scratch card would expire before he could trade it in, or that his house might even catch fire and destroy the ticket, which, to be fair, is probably more likely than winning $2 million twice.

He went on to claim that it occurred to him that he may have ordered a hoax card by mistake.

Most winners call it quits after they’ve hit the jackpot, but this particular man wasn’t necessarily playing for the jackpot. He offered a piece of advice after his win, encouraging others to be sensible when playing these games and to never expect the jackpot win. Just enjoy yourself and even the smaller wins mean something.

This advice should be taken by anyone from scratch card players to those that play live dealer casino games.

As for the funds from his previous win, he said that they went towards a family vacation to begin with but that the rest was now set aside for his retirement.

Even the store workers that sold the winning ticket were particularly pleased, as The Maryland Lottery paid out $2,000 to them simply for holding the ticket.

Has This Happened Before?

You may or may not have already seen the incredible footage of the time Australian man Bill Morgan was filmed reenacting his jackpot win – when he won it again.

In an incredible story, this man went from being pronounced dead to winning two scratched off to a combined value of AU$267,000 within the year.

In 2019, a truck driver in Australia was in a car accident, which he survived. What Bill didn’t survive, though, was the medication the hospital gave him to assist in his recovery. He had an allergic reaction to the medication, which resulted in a heart attack that technically killed him.

After pronouncing Bill clinically dead, the doctors did manage to get his heart beating again after 14 minutes, although he was still in a coma. Despite the doctor’s advice to switch off Bill’s life support, his family resisted. Bill awoke 12 days later in good health.

Bill went and bought a scratch card to celebrate his continued life, with which he won a AU$17,000 car. This wouldn’t usually make the news, but the media loved his story and asked for him to do a reenactment for the cameras.

When Bill and the cameras were working through the scene, Bill won AU$250,000 on the scratch card. Some stories write themselves.
